Michael Wincott- my pal and partner in crime...

Michael Wincott joins Swedish project

Rafael Edholm to direct untitled project

STOCKHOLM Hollywood thesp Michael Wincott and Swedish actor/helmer Rafael Edholm have joined forces to write the script for a dark-edged drama set in the north of Sweden.

The untitled pic, which has a budget of $10 million, is set to shoot from February 2010 for delivery in the fall of the same year.

Wincott, whose credits include The Three Musketeers,Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves,The Assassination of Richard Nixon,The Diving Bell and the Butterfly and What Just Happened?, will play one of the leads.

We will shoot way up north, in the Arctic isolation, where a person is either more hidden or more exposed, Wincott told Variety. Three people meet, something may have happened in their teenage years, and this will now result in one death. It is drama, thriller and dark comedy.

Ingemar Johansson will produce for his production company Elfvik Film, with Filmpool Nord and the Swedish Film Institute as backers. A Finnish co-producer is expected to board shortly and Elfvik is negotiating with two U.S. indies to back the project, according to Edholm, who declined to name names.

Edholm is casting for another U.S. or U.K. actor, and a Swedish actress.

He previously helmed action comedy Babas Cars, which was a Variety Critics choice at the 2006 Karlovy Vary Film Festival.
